Journalist thinks 26-year-old may get second chance at Spurs under Postecoglou

Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge expects Ange Postecoglou to give Tanguy Ndombele a chance to resurrect his Tottenham career.

The Athletic reported at the start of last week that Postecoglou is expected to oversee a mass clear-out this summer, with around ten players expected to leave Hotspur Way as the Australian tries to put his own imprint on the squad.

The outlet named the likes of Sergio Reguilon, Joe Rodon, Davinson Sanchez, Hugo Lloris, Ivan Perisic and a few others among the players likely to be offloaded but curiously, it was suggested that Ndombele would be given a chance to impress Postecoglou in pre-season.

The Frenchman was part of the small group who began pre-season training under the Australian’s watch on Saturday.

However, Vamos Mi Sevilla FC claimed a few days ago that Sevilla, Real Betis and Atletico Madrid are all interested in signing Ndombele this summer, with all three clubs alleged to have spoken with the 26-year-old’s representatives.

Ndombele could be given a fresh chance at Spurs

Bridge has now admitted that he is intrigued to see what the former Lyon man can do under the new Spurs head coach.

The journalist told GiveMeSport: “I think the vast majority of players have got the opportunity to prove themselves.

“Tottenham’s record signing Tanguy Ndombele, he’s just come back from winning the league with Napoli.

“He’s got everything in his locker, but he’s very frustrating because we don’t see it enough. But does he get a second chance? I’m intrigued to see the players that do work under him.”

Spurs Web Opinion

While there is no doubt about Ndombele’s quality on the ball, I am extremely sceptical about whether Postecoglou would see a role for him next season.

That is because the Australian demands that his players work tirelessly out of possession and I simply do not think the Frenchman has the engine to play at that tempo for 90 minutes.
