Journalist thinks a Tottenham move would be ‘attractive’ for Italy international

Journalist Pete O’Rourke has claimed that Torino striker Andrea Belotti would be tempted by a move to Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

Belotti, who has consistently delivered for Torino over the last six years, is having a campaign to forget at the moment, having found the back of the net on just five occasions in 15 Serie A appearances this year (Transfermarkt).

The 28-year-old’s future is up in the air, with his current deal in Turin running out at the end of this season.

The print edition of Tuttosport (28/03/22 – as relayed by Sport Witness) revealed last week that a move to the Premier League could be on the cards for Belotti this summer.

The report suggested that Antonio Conte could look to bring the Italian to North London, with the Spurs boss rating the centre-forward highly.

O’Rourke believes that Belotti is of the requisite quality to be Harry Kane’s backup or to even be one of the England captain’s replacements should he leave Spurs this summer.

When asked about Tottenham’s interest in the Torino star, the journalist told GiveMeSport: “Moving to the Premier League and moving to London, I’m sure would be attractive to him.

“Maybe he might go there as a replacement to Kane or maybe as a back-up to Kane, but he’s a good player on his day and his goalscoring record does stand up.”

If Kane does leave this summer, we should be pursuing two top-quality forwards like Victor Osimhen and Lautaro Martinez to replace him.

Belotti is certainly not of the requisite quality to replace the England captain. However, I would be happy to take the Torino star as a backup for Kane if he is content with a bit-part role at Spurs.
