Journalist thinks agent would rather star join likes of Spurs or PSG for more money

Italian journalist Fabio Bergomi has hinted that Romelu Lukaku’s agent would prefer the striker to move to Tottenham Hotspur in the summer rather than a return to Inter Milan.

Lukaku has not lived up to expectations following his big-money switch to Stamford Bridge last summer, with the centre-forward having scored just five goals in the Premier League for Thomas Tuchel’s men so far this season (Transfermakrt).

Reports have indicated (Gazzetta dello Sport) that Antonio Conte could look to reunite with the Belgian international at Spurs after the 28-year-old thrived under the Italian’s tutelage at Inter Milan.

The rumours have gathered steam in light of reports suggesting that Harry Kane could be on his way out of Tottenham this summer (The Athletic).

Bergomi has now claimed that Lukaku’s agent Federico Pastorello would prefer his client to join Spurs or Paris Saint-Germain rather than returning to the San Siro this summer as he would then be entitled to a bigger bonus.

When asked about Lukaku potentially returning to Inter, the journalist told Calciomercato.it’s CMIT TV: “They tell me it’s on the home stretch. The salary is reduced, and the payment is not complicated due to the problems of Chelsea.

“The only one who doesn’t want to bring him [to Inter] is agent [Federico] Pastorello, because if he takes it to other places like Tottenham or PSG maybe he earns more.

“But this time in my opinion he is silent because he has already earned from the transfer to Chelsea, and he listens to the player.”

The rumours linking Lukaku with a move to Spurs seem to be based purely on the striker’s connection with Conte, rather than any concrete information. I do not think there is any chance of the move happening as I fully expect Kane to still be at Tottenham next season.
