Journalist thinks Conte sees ‘something different’ in 21-year-old Spurs man

Journalist Dean Jones has claimed that Antonio Conte believes Bryan Gil offers something different to the other attacking options at his disposal.

Gil has not made a single start for Tottenham so far this season, despite the injuries that the North London club have had to their forward line (Transfermarkt).

However, the Spaniard has impressed when he has come on from the bench for a few cameos this month, including in Tottenham’s clash against Sporting Lisbon last week and their come-from-behind win over Bournemouth on Saturday.

When asked about Gil ahead of Spurs’ trip to the Vitality Stadium, Conte insisted that he believes in the 21-year-old and even suggested that the winger could evolve into a player similar to Man City star Bernado Silva (Football London).

However, The Evening Standard reported a few days ago that Tottenham are expected to loan Gil out in January, with Conte said to have demanded a direct replacement for the Spaniard.

Jones believes Spurs might hang on to the former Sevilla man as Conte values what he offers.

The journalist told GiveMeSport about Gil: “I think it’s real there’s this doubt over his future, but I’m not convinced he’s going to go, I still think that Conte will be seeing something in him that’s a bit different from the other options he’s got on his bench at the moment.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Gil is not going to get many opportunities in the second half of the season unless there is an injury crisis in our forward line as there has been over recent weeks.  So, it will be in Tottenham’s best interest to loan out the 21-year-old in January so that he gets game time under his belt and continues developing.
