Journalist thinks Spurs and Liverpool-linked star may be keen on a transfer

Journalist Dean Jones has claimed that Tottenham target Sofyan Amrabat wants to leave Fiorentina for a bigger club in January.

While Amarabt has been a solid performer in Serie A for quite a while, his performances at the World Cup have seemingly made the midfielder one of the hottest properties in Europe ahead of the January transfer window.

The 25-year-old deserves a lot of credit for Morocco’s dream run to the semifinal and the Viola star and his international teammates now have a chance to write their names into the history books by becoming the first African team to win the World Cup.

While Amrabat’s full attention will now be on the semifinal against France, there have been suggestions over recent weeks that his club future might lie away from Florence.

Spurs, Liverpool and Inter Milan have been credited with an interest in the midfielder, with the Reds even alleged to have spoken to the player’s agent (Foot Mercato).

Corriere Dello Sport reported a couple of days ago that Fiorentina has no intention of letting the Moroccan leave in January and that the club are even prepared to double his salary to convince him to stay.

However, Jones believes that Amrabat could push to leave the Artemio Franchi Stadium soon.

The journalist told GiveMeSport: “One thing about Amrabat is he definitely seems to be using this tournament as a springboard for his career. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if he did have sights now on getting a move.”

Jones is probably right in saying that Amrabat’s head will be turned if top clubs from Europe want to sign him. Fiorentina might also feel that now is the right time to cash in on him as his value could have potentially peaked. However, I do not think the 26-year-old is likely to end up at Spurs, given how well-stocked we are in that area of the pitch.
