Journalist thinks Tottenham are ready to ‘push the boat out’ for PL defender

Transfer market expert Dean Jones has backed Tottenham Hotspur to push the boat out in an attempt to land Chelsea centre-back Antonio Rudiger.

Rudiger’s current contract at Stamford Bridge runs out next summer and Chelsea have been unable to reach an agreement with him over a new deal so far.

There has been plenty of speculation linking Spurs with a move for the German international over recent weeks.

The Express claimed in October that Spurs were monitoring Rudiger’s contract situation while Gianluca Di Marzio stated at the start of this month that Tottenham were one of four clubs who were in talks with the central defender.

According to The Athletic, Chelsea’s offer of around £140,000 a week does not satisfy the former Roma man, who is thought to be demanding a salary of £200,000 a week.

Jones has now asserted that Spurs will try their best to poach the Blues star from their London rivals.

The journalist told GiveMeSport: “I think Tottenham are willing to really push the boat out to get Rudiger.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I personally do not think there is any chance of Rudiger coming to Spurs. The 28-year-old will certainly have plenty of options to choose from if he does not sign a new contract at Stamford Bridge. So, I do not see him wanting to ruin his Chelsea legacy by joining Tottenham.
