Journalist thinks Tottenham would be an attractive move for World Cup star

Pete O’Rourke believes that Tottenham Hotspur are more than capable of coming out on top in the race for Ajax midfielder Mohammed Kudus.

Kudus has been exceptional for Ajax so far this season, having found the back of the net 10 times for the club in 2022-23 across all competitions (Transfermarkt).

The attacking midfielder showcased his talent on the world stage in Qatar, netting twice in the group stage for Ghana and winning several admirers with his displays.

The Sun revealed last week that Spurs were one of several clubs who were monitoring the 22-year-old, who was alleged to be valued at £40m by Ajax.

Tottenham’s interest in Kudus was also backed up by Calciomercato.it, who reported a few days ago that the Lilywhites aim to beat both Juventus and AC Milan to the attacking midfielder’s signature after Antonio Conte asked for the player to be signed.

O’Rourke believes that the competition for the Ghanaian will heat up on the back of his World Cup performances but added that Tottenham would be as attractive a destination as any other.

The journalist told GiveMeSport about Kudus: “His performances at the World Cup mean it’s going to be an intense competition for his services involving all the top clubs across Europe.

“But I think Tottenham, with the stadium, with the manager and Champions League football on offer, it’s an attractive proposition for all the top players out there.”

Kudus’ ceiling is very high and his profile is one Conte will quite like, given the Ghanaian’s engine and athleticism married with his technical ability.

The 22-year-old is also one of the few players who would provide a big threat in the final third while operating as an advanced midfielder in a 3-5-2, while also having the discipline to operate as part of a two-man midfield in a 3-4-3.
