Journalist unsure if Brighton decision could impact Spurs’ Pedro Porro deal

The Daily Telegraph’s Matt Law has revealed that Brighton have no intention of loaning out Tariq Lamptey, who is rumoured to be the player Sporting Lisbon are pursuing to replace the seemingly Tottenham-bound Pedro Porro.

If reports over the last 24 hours are to be believed, it is only a matter of time before Porro completes his switch to Spurs.

Fabrizio Romano revealed on Thursday evening that both Tottenham and Sporting are ‘confident’ that an agreement will be reached, with the right-back already said to have agreed on a five-and-a-half-year contract with the North London club.

UOL Esporte journalist Bruno Andrade revealed yesterday that Spurs had agreed that Porro would feature in Sporting’s Portuguese League Cup final clash against Sporting on Saturday before making the switch.

It also emerged yesterday that Sporting had enquired to Brighton about signing Lamptey on loan until the end of the season to replace the Spaniard (The Athletic).

Law has now taken to social media to reveal that the Seagulls have no intention of loaning out Lamptey but he added that he is unsure if that would impact Spurs’ pursuit of Porro.

I do not think this will have any bearing on the Porro deal, which by most accounts, seems to be all but done. I wonder if Tottenham would consider sending Djed Spence on loan to the Portuguese club to sweeten the deal and potentially shave a small amount off the transfer fee for Porro.
