The Athletic’s Jack Pitt-Brooke has said that Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is now as likely to remain at Tottenham this month as he is to exit the club.
With little over a week left until the window slams shut, Hojbjerg appears no closer to the exit door at the moment.
With Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr away at the African Cup of Nations, the Dane has continued to get minutes under his belt, but it has been widely reported that he is not in Ange Postecoglou’s plans.
In fact, several sources over the last few days continue to maintain that Daniel Levy is actively trying to find buyers for Hojbjerg before the January 1 deadline, with the midfielder thought to be valued at around £20m by the North London side (TEAMtalk).
A few days ago, Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg suggested that the 28-year-old’s future might not be decided until the final couple of days of the transfer window.

Hojbjerg’s Tottenham future is hanging in the balance
Pitt-Brooke believes that Hojbjerg could now remain at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium until the end of the season as the midfielder’s services could be needed by Posteoclgou in the upcoming matches.
The journalist said on the Last Word on Spurs podcast: “It’s within the realms of possibility that these guys will get injured and they would need Hojbjerg again.
“Maybe Tottenham would want to keep him, I’m not sure. Gallagher I would say is unlikely to happen, I might regret saying that later, but Hojbjerg is more of a 50/50 situation, but the big question around Hojbjerg is who comes in for him and with what money.”

While Tottenham will likely get the Antonio Nusa deal over the line, it is now starting to look increasingly likely that the club will put off their pursuit of a new midfielder until next summer and decide to hang on to Hojbjerg until the end of the campaign.
