Juan Foyth sends message on social media after leaving Spurs

Juan Foyth has taken to Instagram to send a message to Villarreal and their fans as he joins the Spanish club on a permanent deal this summer.

Foyth was sent on loan to Villarreal last season and quickly emerged as a first-team player for the Yellow Submarine. The Spurs man played in defensive midfield and at right-back, although it was the latter where he shone.

The Argentine was particularly impressive in the club’s Europa League run, putting in fantastic performances against both Arsenal in the semi-final and Man United in the final as Villarreal lifted the trophy.

He made 32 appearances for the Spanish club last season, even managing a goal and two assists in that time. Foyth actually only made 32 appearances in his entire Tottenham career, highlighting the lack of chances handed to him back in North London.

As Tottenham inserted an option to buy clause in the loan contract, Villarreal took the opportunity to snap Foyth up for around £13m this summer (Standard).

Foyth took to Instagram to post an image of him in the iconic yellow shirt with the caption: ‘New challenges await us, Villarreal. Thanks to the club for the trust and to the whole family for the messages and the love.’
