Jurgen Klinsmann compares rumoured Spurs target with N’Golo Kante

Jurgen Klinsmann has claimed that rumoured Tottenham Hotspur target Nicolo Barella has similar attributes to N’Golo Kante.

Barella has developed considerably since arriving at Inter in 2019 and is now regarded as one of the best midfielders in Serie A.

The midfielder has established himself as an important part of Roberto Mancini’s side and has shone for Italy in their opening matches of the European Championships.

CalcioMercato reported in January that Spurs had their eye on the midfielder, whose current deal at the San Siro runs until 2024.

La Gazzetta dello Sport then revealed last week that Liverpool had already begun talks with Inter over the 24-year-old but added that Tottenham could look to hijack the deal.

Jorginho described Barella as the Italian equivalent of his Chelsea teammate Kante and Klinsmann admitted that the midfielder has similar qualities to the Frenchman even though he is yet to achieve as much as the 30-year-old.

The former Tottenham striker told Corriere: “He has the same function as Kante – but the Inter player is in the development phase. The Frenchman already has experience and has won everything.”

Spurs Web Opinion

If Barella does become available, he will arguably be the most sought after midfielder in Europe this summer. So, I do not see us getting involved in the bidding war for the 24-year-old.
