‘Just 15 touches’ – Spurs man criticised for performance in WC qualifier

Richarlison has come under criticism for his display for Brazil against Bolivia, with several media outlets giving the Tottenham man an extremely low rating for his performance.

Richarlison has had a difficult start to the season at Spurs and is potentially staring at the prospect of an extended period on the bench following Son Heung-min’s hat-trick against Burnley in the number nine role in the previous matchday.

The 26-year-old would have been hoping for a change in fortunes when he linked up with the Brazil squad but unfortunately, his misery is continuing as he missed a gilt-edged chance in the Selecao’s 5-1 win over Bolivia on Sunday.

After missing what was effectively an open goal from just a few years out, Richarlison was seen reduced to tears on the bench.

Richarlison criticised for lack of impact for Brazil

Goal have not been too kind in their assessment of the Tottenham man’s performance, giving him a rating of just 4 out of 10.

The outlet wrote about the former Everton man: “Very, very quiet day from the Tottenham man. Just 15 touches overall and never really got involved while the other attackers around him were all buzzing and skied a great chance.”

Pundit Feed rated Richarlison’s display as 5.5 out of 10 and noted: “The main threat in the box, lively but unable to find a goal missing two big chances – was in tears on the bench.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Richarlison is clearly lacking in confidence at the moment and since he is quite an emotional character, that is translating directly to his on-field struggles. The striker needs an arm around his shoulder and words of encouragement from Postecoglou when he returns to Hotspur Way.
