‘Just embarrassing’ – Pundit highlights final straw that likely made Harry Kane want to leave Spurs

Jamie O’Hara believes that Harry Kane will be fed up by the lack of urgency shown by Tottenham during the summer transfer window, and would have thus made up his mind to join Bayern Munich this summer.

Despite several rounds of talks between Bayern and Spurs, the latest of which took place in London earlier his week, the two parties were still thought to be £25m apart in their valuations of Kane (David Ornstein).

However, some sources have reported over recent days that despite the Bundesliga club not meeting Tottenham’s valuation so far, there is optimism in Bavaria about the deal for the England captain (Fabrizio Romano).

Bild even asserted a couple of days ago that Kane is so keen to make the switch to the Allianz Stadium that he would be prepared to give up a portion of his own salary to bridge the gap between the two clubs.

O’Hara is not surprised Kane wants to leave Spurs

O’Hara is certainly not surprised to hear that the 30-year-old desperately wants out, with the pundit opining that Tottenham are not equipped to compete against the top Premier League sides during the upcoming campaign.

The former Spurs midfielder told Grosvenor Sport: “If I’m Harry Kane, I’m leaving.

“I would have looked at pre-season, where Spurs have only played two games so far, seen that it’s a shambles and seen that the club haven’t attracted any top-quality players, and say, ‘do you know what? I’m going to go to Bayern Munich.’

“I think he’s getting to the point where he’s probably had enough, and if Daniel Levy is looking to eventually accept an offer, then I think he’ll leave. I don’t know where Spurs will be without Harry Kane next season.

“He’s a world-class international football player of the highest degree, and Spurs have been lucky to have him for so long. It’s got to the point now where enough is enough – if Spurs aren’t going to compete, then he needs to leave.

“I just think Spurs have fallen away from the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United. I feel like there was a time when they were competing with them and amongst it, but I feel now that they’ve drifted.

“The only saving grace that the club has is that they still have Kane and Heung-min Son, who are world-class players, but if you look at the rest of the team, it’s no better than West Ham.

“The likes of Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea and even Aston Villa are all going to be better than them next season – they’re attracting top players, but Spurs are not. Some of the players that they’ve signed are just embarrassing really.”

Spurs Web Opinion

It was evident that Kane made up his mind about wanting to join Bayern quite a while ago, possibly since his conversation with Thomas Tuchel at the start of the summer.

While the centre-forward is seemingly not going to agitate for a move, it looks quite likely that he will get his wish, with all parties now wanting the deal to go through.
