‘Just too much’ – Pundit thinks Spurs should only charge £8m to sell 26-year-old

Carlton Palmer expects Leeds United to sign Joe Rodon permanently should they win promotion to the Premier League but the pundit insisted that Tottenham’s rumoured asking price of £15m for the centre-back is too high.

If you have followed Spurs Web’s coverage over the last few months, you will know that Rodon’s stock continues to grow with each appearance that he makes for Leeds.

The 26-year-old’s solid displays at the back are one of the main reasons why Daniel Farke’s men are fighting over an automatic promotion spot.

Earlier this week, it was reported by Football Insider that a number of Premier League clubs had been alerted by the Welshman’s displays at Elland Road this season, with some even alleged to have reached out to Tottenham to seek information about the player.

How much can Tottenham get for Joe Rodon?

The outlet added that Spurs value the centre-back at between £10m and £15m and that Leeds would have a hard time paying that fee if they fail to win promotion to the top flight.

When that fee was put to Palmer, he told Football League World. “Will he go back to Spurs? No, he won’t. £10m to £15m is a lot of money. So, at the end of the season, Leeds United are going to have a look at whether they get promoted, and see where they see it at.

“I think (Rodon should cost) about £8m. £10m to £15m is just too much. Should Leeds get promoted, then the conversation needs to be had. He can step up and play in the Premier League.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Tottenham will be hoping to get a bidding war going for Rodon so they can get as big a fee as possible. However, the 26-year-old will have just one year left on his contract in the summer and will thus have a lot of power.

If Leeds to manage to bounce straight back up to the Premier League, they would likely be Rodon’s preferred destination, with the defender appearing to feel at home at Elland Road.
