Juventus director provides contract update on Spurs-linked Paulo Dybala

Juventus director Federico Cherubini has revealed that contract talks are planned with Paulo Dybala and a number of other players in the coming days.

Dybala is out of contract at the end of the current season and has once again been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur with Spanish news outlet AS claiming in January that the north Londoners were leading the race to land the 28-year-old on a free transfer this summer ahead of the likes of Inter Milan and Barcelona.

Spurs came close to landing the Argentina international in the summer of 2019 when the move fell through after the Old Lady had a sudden change of heart and opted to keep him (BBC).

Dybala has been on the goal trail once again this season, netting 12 in 27 appearances in all competitions and providing six assists (transfermarkt).

Cherubini told the Corriere Dello Sport: “In the next few days we’ll be meeting not only Paulo but also other players in the squad who have expiring contracts.”

Qualifying for the Champions League come the end of the season will be pivotal if we want to even entertain the prospect of signing players of Dybala’s calibre, it seems highly unlikely that such a player would be willing to drop down and play Europa Conference League football – especially with Conte’s future potentially up in the air.
