Kaboul looking to put injury hell behind him

Younes Kaboul

Younes Kaboul admits that his injury problems came at the worst possible time as he looked to break onto the international scene with France.

The Tottenham Hotspur defender made his first appearance in over three months in the 3-2 win against Stoke and could face Real Madrid tonight.

“My knee injury? I have still not swallowed it,” Kaboul told L’Equipe. “Moreover, I then immediately picked up a strained thigh muscle.

“It happened at the worst moment because I wanted to go on with Les Bleus.

“That will be for another time. I still hope to be part of the national team coach’s plans. Anyway, I will do my very best to be part of them.”

He added: “In England, every weekend you have to give back what the fans have given you – some even love their club more than their family.

“Even during cup matches against lower division teams, you can’t be lax.

“You know you will have to endure a mad afternoon, finishing the match with 100 headers and 25 tackles. You have to be ready for that.”
