Kane admits there is a ‘really good feel’ around Spurs ahead of new season

Harry Kane has revealed that there is a buzz around the Tottenham squad ahead of the 2022/23 season.

The upcoming campaign promises to be the most exciting one for Spurs since Mauricio Pochettino’s time at the club, with the Lilywhites set for their first full season under Antonio Conte.

The North London club have been proactive in the transfer market so far this summer, having made six new additions to their squad.

Tottenham are unbeaten in their three pre-season matches so far and the likes of Harry Kane have looked extremely sharp – with the striker netting five times.

It was the England captain’s brace that helped the Lilywhites come from a goal down to beat Rangers at Ibrox on Saturday, and Kane admitted the game proved to be great preparation as the squad continue their build up to their season opener against Southampton on August 6.

The 28-year-old told SpursPlay following the win (23/07/22): “Any game you play, whether it’s pre-season or during the season, you want to feel good, feel the back of the net and thankfully I was able to do that today.

“I thought we played really well as a team. First half, we had four or five good chances we should’ve put away and second half we continued that and did take a couple. Overall, really good preparation.

“I think the gaffer said it was one of the games we created the most chances and hadn’t scored. We’re getting sharp. We’re feeling fitter every game, every training session and these are the games you need. Tough opposition.”

Kane also admitted that everyone at the club is pulling in the same direction and that there is excitement about what can be achieved in the upcoming campaign.

He added: “We look good. We’ve had some great additions. We’ve been working hard, the manager has been fantastic, all the staff and we got a great team but as always, you have to take that into the season.

“It’s a long old year. It isn’t just about August or September, its about a marathon and obviously a World Cup in between that as well. Everyone’s moving in the right direction, there’s a really good feel, amongst the fans and us.”

Spurs Web Opinion

The feeling around Tottenham at the moment is the almost polar opposite of what it was last summer. Our protracted managerial search, Nuno’s appointment and the speculation over Kane’s future meant that there were many question marks heading into the 2021/22 season.

For the first time since Pochettino’s early years at the club, it now feels like the fans, players and staff are all pulling in the same direction and there is genuine excitement about the possibilities of what could be achieved.
