For those who are not looking for ‘All or Nothing: Tottenham Hotspur’ spoilers from the upcoming episodes of the Amazon documentary, look away now.

Episode five of Amazon’s ‘All or Nothing: Tottenham Hotspur’ documentary focused primarily around the sale of Christian Eriksen to Inter Milan in the January transfer window.

Tottenham sold Eriksen to the Serie A giants for a reported fee of around £16.9m (BBC) over £5m more than Spurs paid Ajax for the midfielder in 2013 (BBC).

This effectively meant that the Lilywhites were able to get seven seasons, 305 appearances and 69 goals from the Great Dane while still turning a profit on him (Wikipedia).

However, the North London club were losing a well-established member of the squad and one of the most creative players in the Premier League.

In the documentary, we see Harry Kane reacting to the news of Eriksen’s departure after seeing his former teammate arrive in Milan on Sky Sports News.

Kane said (All or Nothing – Episode 5 – 31 minute): “Obviously, Christian was an amazing player, we got on very well. He wanted a new challenge and you can’t blame someone for wanting to try something new. I guess that’s the business of football. I guess that’s the business of getting sold for the right price or getting bought for a certain price. It’s never as easy as ‘Ok, you want to go, you can go’, because that’s not the way it works.”

Tottenham fans will just be hoping that this is not an ominous statement from Harry Kane on his own long-term future or a potential new challenge for the England captain.
