Kane comments on Tottenham’s January signings Bergwijn and Gedson Fernandes

Harry Kane has admitted that he is looking forward to playing with January arrivals Steven Bergwijn and Gedson Fernandes.

The striker hasn’t played a game for the past six months since injuring his hamstring at St Mary’s Stadium on January 1 against Southampton.

The 26-year-old has now fully recovered from his injury and admitted that he cannot wait to get back on the pitch with the rest of the squad, including Bergwijn and Fernandes.

The striker told Spurs TV: “I got injured on January 1 so I haven’t seen too much of Gedson or Stevie, playing with or getting that connection.

“I have been watching them play, it has been long enough without a game, especially when you have got top players who are new to the club and you want to be on the pitch with them.

“I am looking forward to it, I am looking forward to it, the squad is looking good, everyone is fully fit and ready to go. We will be working hard between now and the first game and hopefully, we can finish strong in the last nine games.”

Steven Bergwijn slotted in as a first-team regular when he arrived from PSV on a permanent deal in January, partly due to the injury to Kane. The Dutch winger was used to fill in for both Kane and Son during his first two months at the club.

Meanwhile, after moving to Spurs from Benfica on an 18-month loan deal, Gedson Fernandes has been used far more sparingly by Mourinho, despite showing glimpses of raw talent.

Spurs Web Opinion:

Much has been said about the arrival of Steven Bergwijn, but Gedson has really slipped under the radar. The young midfielder looks to have incredible talent and, more importantly, a class work ethic. I think he could surprise a few people and make waves next season.
