Some Tottenham fans have taken to Twitter to voice their frustrations at the 1-0 opening day defeat at home to Everton this evening.
Spurs came into the match with two new signings in the starting XI in the form of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Matt Doherty, yet they were outperformed by the Toffee new boys.
The likes of Rodrigues, Doucoure, and Allan ran Tottenham off the pitch from the first whistle until the last.
The away side took the lead in the second half when a delightful Digne cross was met by the leap of Calvert-Lewin, giving Hugo Lloris no chance between the sticks.
After going down at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Jose Mourinho’s side never really looked like scoring a goal of their own, with Dele Alli and Matt Doherty having the only meaningful chances of the game.
In a jam-packed opening three weeks of the season, starting with a Premier League loss is certainly less than ideal for all those associated with Tottenham.
Let’s take a look at how some fans reacted on Twitter:
CAN U BRING POCH BACK?
MISSING HIM??

Absolutely disgraceful performance. In all my years as a fan of this team I’ve never seen a group of players so lazy and pathetic. I’m taking my fanhood to Everton where it looks like they know how to run a football club.

Ah yes we lost because we dont have a backup striker

GET RID OF DAVIES AND MOURA FOR THE LOVE OF GOD

*Mourinho football is in the past and simply, he doesn’t have it anymore. He is not what he once was and that’s the truth. This is a team for Top-8, not to win titles.
We’ll never win a title like this— Gonçalo ? (@F1d4lg0) September 13, 2020
I think Kane has to leave.

Sell Kane to city so he can win trophies and break records

Bit harsh blaming Vertonghen when the lad doesn’t even play for Spurs.

And striker and creative midfielder

All your years how many’s that 12 go support. It’s only tactically Jose got it wrong. We weren’t 100% at it closing down and marking which is too common and you lose to organised teams that’s it

Nothing has changed- nothing! No decent tactics but no quality players in midfield. No pace, creativity and most sad of all is no motivation. First game of season and can’t get up for it. Wow – boys, your career is short, surely you can be motivated for 90 minutes a week.

Have something to tell us about this article?
Mourinho’s greatest fault is depending too much on Kane. It was also a Pochettino mistake. Kane just sauntered around mid fielld most of the game against Everton. Before World Cup; he hustled and mmade many of his own chances. Now he keeps waiting for “service” .
