Spanish veteran Fernando Llorente could be set to play a key role for Tottenham in our pursuit of glory in the Premier League and in Europe.

According to The Mirror In-form Harry Kane is now a major doubt for Saturday lunchtime’s visit to Manchester United because of a hamstring injury, an injury initially played down but it seems there was more too it than what was initially assumed.

It will also certainly leave doubts as to whether Kane will be available for the Champions League showdown with Real Madrid at Wembley on Wednesday, all meaning Mauricio Pochettino is ready to turn to Llorente as his replacement.

Kane, who has had a scan after sitting out the midweek Carabao Cup loss to West Ham and Llorente has yet to score in five appearances since a £13.5million deadline-day move from Swansea.

If Kane is again missing, the 32-year-ols star will be given his chance to step out of the shadows.
The article says Pochettino found his summer search to find a quality striker who was prepared to play second fiddle to Kane tough.

After signing the big Spaniard he said: “It is difficult to find a player who wants to come to be on the bench, as everyone recognises Kane is one of the best strikers in the world.
“For a club like us it is not easy to find the right player under these circumstances. That is why Llorente is perfect for us. He fits very well into our project.”

Worst possible news ahead of one of the biggest games of the season. Llorente has lacked sharpness but he does possess experience and that could be vital in the months ahead
