Kane reveals the staggering number of penalties he takes during practice every day

Harry Kane is one of the most reliable penalty takers at the moment in world football. His conversion rate from the spot for both club and country stands at more than 90% (BBC).

Kane thumped home a penalty against Arsenal at the Emirates last weekend before blasting two more into the top corner against Bulgaria on Saturday.

The striker’s proficiency from the spot is no accident as he trains relentlessly on his spot-kicks during training sessions.

The Spurs man has now revealed that he can take up to 50 penalties in a single training session. Kane said the high volume of practice helps as he expects the Three Lions to get awarded a lot of penalties given the players they have up front.

Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live, he said, “I work quite a bit on it. The team we have and the skill set we have, I think we are going to get quite a lot of penalties at the international level.

“We did them on Friday with a few of the lads for 20 minutes or half an hour, making sure I felt good over it and luckily I put them away today.

“I always go with my feeling – it could be 10, it could be 50, it depends on how I feel on the day. We have such explosive, skillful players so we’re always going to get penalties.”

Kane’s penalty technique is such that any keeper in the world will have a tough time saving it even if they guess the right way. While his placement is obviously immaculate, the power he gets behind his spot-kicks is what makes them next to unsavable.

It is now at the stage where if a Kane team wins a pen, it almost feels like a guaranteed goal, such is his return from the spot. Let’s hope the likes of Sonny, Lucas, and Alli can win plenty more this season.
