Kane set for substantial pay increase

Harry Kane is set to be the highest paid English star in the Premier League.

With Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling the best paid English player on £180,000-a-week, ab article in The Mail say Spurs look set to splash out up to £200,000-a-week to keep their man out of the clutches of Real Madrid.

The article says Kane’s £110,000-a-week basic salary ranks him only equal 35th in the list of the League’s highest earning stars, and there is an acceptance Kane’s deal no longer reflects his standing in the game.

It adds that the 24-year-old is already Spurs’ top earner, having signed a new contract tying him down until 2022 in December 2016 and also has a good bonus structure, but the striker’s weekly wage is considerably less than many England players.

Kane’s former team-mate Kyle Walker’s basic weekly salary is around £130,000 while Daniel Sturridge commands £150,000 at Liverpool and the adds that Kane’s £110,000-a-week puts him on a par with the likes of Ashley Young at Manchester United, but his earnings are modest compared to the league’s best paid players, Paul Pogba (£290,000) and Romelu Lukaku (£250,000).

It adds that we have a history of rewarding our stars with regular pay rises based on performances, however Kane’s astonishing 56-goal haul in 2017 — and interest from mega-rich clubs like Real Madrid — will force the club to break their stringent wage structure and pay him around £200,000-a-week.
