Harry Kane is hoping to better his stellar start to the season after signing a new five-and-a-half-year contract with Tottenham.
The 21-year-old only signed a new deal in August but his 20 goals in all competitions have earned him improved terms and a contract until 2020.
Kane’s goalscoring form in the cup competitions prompted manager Mauricio Pochettino to give the academy graduate a run in the Premier League and he has not looked back – netting 10 league goals, including braces against Chelsea and, on Saturday, West Brom.
Kane, who was born in Walthamstow and is a boyhood Spurs fan, has become a big favourite for Tottenham supporters, who hail him as ‘one of our own’.
He told the club website: “It’s been a great past six months. I feel whenever I play I will get chances and get goals and that is what has happened this season, which I’ve been really happy about.
“Hopefully I can push on and things will go even better. I just want to get better as a player. I am still 21 and have a lot of football ahead of me.
“I have been at Spurs since I was 11 and have always loved the club. I just want to keep working hard and do my best for the club.”

Kane made his first-team debut in the Europa League in August 2011 after a spell on loan at Leyton Orient and scored his first goal in the same competition that December.
Further loan spells with Millwall, Norwich and Leicester followed, with mixed success, before his breakthrough back at Tottenham last season.
After mostly having to make do with appearances in the cups, Kane scored his first Premier League goal on his first start against Sunderland last April.
He scored in the following two games as well and kept his place until the end of the season.
Kane’s superb form is expected to earn him a first call-up to the full England squad after success with the age-group sides.
He has played at every level from under-17 and has netted eight times in 10 appearances for the under-21s.
Former Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe, who signed for Sunderland from MLS side Toronto FC last month, has backed Kane to break into the England squad.
“To get to the England squad or any international squad it’s based on merit and you have to perform and in the Premier League, probably the hardest league to score goals, he’s doing that week-in, week-out against top level teams,” Defoe told Sky Sports News HQ.
“The Chelsea game was unbelievable, playing against two top centre-halves in JT (John Terry) and Gary Cahill, he managed to score two goals that night and I can’t see why not if it’s based on merit. He’s scoring goals and at some point I imagine he’s got to be close.”
Defoe, who scored his first Sunderland goal in Saturday’s 2-0 victory over Burnley, thinks Kane deserves the new long-term deal at Spurs.
“He’s unbelievable,” Defoe said. “I remember coming in most days (at Tottenham) when he played in the reserves and saying to him ‘Hey, how many goals have you scored?’ and he always got two or three in the reserves every game.
“You start to wonder if you’ve got a young kid who’s scoring three or four goals every game in the reserves at some point he’s got to get a chance training with the first team. He’s a natural goalscorer and it’s not surprised me, how many goals he’s scored and the different types of goals. Congratulations to him signing that contract. It’s well deserved.
“He’s got 20 goals already this season. It’s unbelieveable. It’s the hardest thing to do, scoring goals, but to come in and score that many goals already is amazing.”
