‘Kane will love the way he plays’ – Former Spurs midfielder makes Conte claim

Jamie O’Hara has claimed that Antonio Conte’s potential arrival at Tottenham could convince Harry Kane to stick around at the club.

Conte has now emerged as the clear front-runner for the Tottenham job, with the North London club rumoured to be have been in advanced talks for the Italian on Wednesday.

There continues to be plenty of speculation over Kane’s future, with reports this week suggesting that Manchester City are ready to send a signal of intention by making a move for the England captain.

The Telegraph claimed yesterday that Daniel Levy is ready to promise Conte that he will keep Kane in North London to convince the former Chelsea boss to take the job.

O’Hara believes that Conte’s arrival might just be what is needed to convince Kane that the club are moving in the right direction.

He insisted that landing the 51-year-old would be a real statement of intent by his former club.

When asked about the reports about Conte’s potential move to Spurs, O’Hara told Sky Sports: “He’s a proven winner, he won the Premier League, he’s won Serie A. I love the way he plays. His style. He plays 3-5-2, it’s attacking and gets the best out of strikers.

“He’s passionate. I love him as a manager, I think he’s absolutely brilliant. If Spurs can get this one over the line it’s a massive coup.

“I’d even go as far to say as he could convince Harry Kane to stay. Kane will love the way he plays.

“It shows real ambition from the club. I would give [Conte] whatever he wants.”

Spurs Web Opinion

It will not be Conte’s arrival that convinces Kane to stay but rather the Italian who would likely be demanding assurances that the striker will stay. Given that Levy is pursuing Conte (and/or Pochettino), it is clear that the Spurs chairman has decided that he will not be letting Kane leave (unless the new manager would prefer to cash in and reinvest the money).
