Kane’s influence on the academy

Two players from our academy have both quoted the same name when asked who they look up to in the senior set-up.

Tashan Oakley-Boothe was introduced as a late substitute in our 1-0 home win over Barnsley in the third round of the Carabao Cup on September 19, and winger Anthony Georgiou made his bow as a sub in our 3-0 win at APOEL in the Champions League.

17 year old Tashan is in his second year as a full-time player and is eligible for our Under-18s side until the end of the current campaign.
20 year old Anthony is now into his third season with our Development Squad in the Under-21 age group.

After impressing on our summer tour of the USA the two have earned their first team chances while continuing to graft on the training pitches to always be ready when called upon.

Both Tashan and Anthony have highlighted the influence the in-form Harry Kane has had on them since they’ve been working at senior level.

Speaking on the clubs website Tashan was asked who he’s learned the most from thus far, to which he replied: “Harry Kane. He’s quite a role a model for me with everything he does on and off the pitch.

“The way he conducts himself, the way he does his own individual stuff, he’s a credit to the club and he’s great to be around.”

On reflecting on making his debut in Cyprus, in front of several of his relatives at Nicosia’s GSP Stadium, Anthony agreed with Tashan’s sentiments on Kane.

He enthused “Harry Kane is an unbelievable player,” . “His finishing is incredible and you know as soon as he gets a chance he’s going to score.

“To see someone come from the Academy and become a world-class striker is unbelievable and something that everyone looks up to and aspires to. To see someone come from where we’ve come from and for him to be doing what he’s doing is incredible.”

Harry Kane is probably the most vital player the club has had for years. His form is benefiting the team and his success can only be a source of hope and influence to the young players coming off the production line at Hotspur Way.
