Keane focusing on life at Spurs

Robbie Keane

Robbie Keane has insisted that speculation over his future during the transfer window did not affect him.

Many expected the striker, including us to leave Tottenham for pastures new, but surprisingly he has remained at White Hart Lane.

He was the subject of an £8million bid from Turkish outfit Besiktas, but decided to stay at Spurs.

Keane said: “It doesn’t really affect me. For a long time now since I started off, there’s always speculation, but unfortunately, I can’t help speculation.

“I can just concentrate on what I am doing. I was quite relaxed about the transfer window, I wasn’t really too bothered.

“All the clubs are probably glad now that it is closed and everyone can concentrate on playing football.

“There won’t be a lot of speculation now for at least a couple of months.”

Keane has only featured twice this season in a substitute role and has been nursing a niggling knee problem.

Keane said: “It’s only really been two weeks, the season has only just started.

“I missed the Stoke game through the injury, but I had a good pre-season.

“I felt good, I felt sharp and that was only really a few weeks ago.

“But of course, every player wants to play in every game they can, and I will certainly look forward to these two games coming up.”
