Keane still a major threat

Russia boss Dick Advocaat admits he still rates Robbie Keane highly despite the fact the striker has fallen down the pecking order at White Hart Lane.

The Ireland captain is set to line up for his country against Russia this evening in the Euro 2012 qualifier.

“I’m a great admirer of Keane because he’s always there, he always likes to play for his country,” said the former Rangers boss.

“I can understand, if you play for a team like Spurs, then you know there are so many talented players there that you’re not always a regular.

“But I don’t think it’s a big problem for him because his heart is right for a footballer.”

Have something to tell us about this article?

  1. Robbie Keane is no longer the player he used to be.He can only score goals against second rate opposition.
He is slow and the majority of his passes end up at the feet of opposing players.

    • I would say that Keane ruined his career when he moved to Liverpool in 2008/09 season. After he moved there he hasn't been the player he once was. Benitez is known for making bad signings. I personally feel like that Spurs should have sold Keane in August. Hope they get rid of him in January, otherwise his valuation will drop further. If Keane moves to other club he maybe can get his career back on track.
