Keane scores on debut for LA Galaxy

Robbie Keane - Tottenham Hotspur News

Former Tottenham striker Robbie Keane netted his first goal on his debut for LA Galaxy.

The Republic of Ireland international moved to the MLS in a £3.5million deal latched on to a David Beckham free-kick and rounded visiting keeper Jon Busch before celebrating with his trademark cartwheel against San Jose Earthquakes.

Keane said: “It couldn’t have gone better for me.

“When you come to a new team, it’s always good to get the first goal.

“When you go a few games without a goal, it starts to play on your mind.”

Keane, 31, was substituted after 72 minutes and received a standing ovation from the 27,000 crowd at the Home Depot Center.

Have something to tell us about this article?

  1. A bit disrespectful to a Spurs Legeng that, Irish Spur. I’m well pleased for Robbie and will always hold him in the highest regard as a former Spur

  2. really pleased for him, hope he does well over there was a great servant of the club but goes to show that the grass isnt always greener ie moving to liverpool. was never the same when he came back to spurs had bit of a sulk on and i think the club had outgrew him as we need better players now as other clubs have progressed. scored a lot of wonderful goals for us so will always be fondly remembered
