‘Keep an eye on’ – Journalist claims Wolves star is ‘firmly on Tottenham’s radar’

In an appearance on Last Word On Spurs, journalist Ben Jacobs has claimed Wolves defender Max Kilman is a player Tottenham Hotspur hold a definite interest in and one the club sees as a target for the summer.

It’s been an impressive rise to the top for the young defender, who started his career with non-league side Maidenhead before joining Wolves on a free transfer back in 2018.

He’s racked up 87 appearances for the Midlands club since making his debut in 2019 (Transfermarkt) and has quickly become one of the most impressive young centre-halves in the Premier League.

It is well-known that Spurs are looking to reinforce in the centre of defence in the summer, and Jacobs previously told Last Word On Spurs back in August 2022 that the club were admirers of the 25-year-old Wolves player.

The home-grown star has plenty of time left on his current contract, with his deal running through to 2026 (Transfermarkt), so Wolves are in no desperate need to sell right now. However, it remains to be seen whether a big offer could change their mind, and turn the head of Kilman himself.

Jacobs believes Spurs will be tracking Kilman through to the end of the season and he could be one of the targets on Antonio Conte’s wishlist.

He said: “The other name I would keep an eye on, again, for the summer rather than for now is Max Kilman at Wolves. Kilman has been firmly on Tottenham’s radar and it’s about that period in the market when you can move.

“There’s no point wasting time and energy when there is no ability to sell. Now, a new manager, Wolves are struggling, Kilman will be thinking about his aspirations, come the summer it wouldn’t surprise me, even if he gets on playing under Lopetegui, if Kilman decides he would like to make a move.”

On the reasons Spurs hold an interest in Kilman, Jacobs said: “I think that’s what Spurs are looking at and waiting for. He is one of a few targets for a while, they feel he has composure on the ball, he has Premier League experience and he could be available for a relatively decent fee.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I really like Max Kilman and it’s been impressive to see him develop into such a fine young centre-back at Wolves. He certainly looks to be ready for the next step of his career and I would be very happy to see that happen at Spurs.
