‘Keep it open’ – Fabrizio Romano comments on Depay and Maddison rumours at Spurs

Fabrizio Romano has revealed he would not rule out a move from Tottenham for the likes of James Maddison or Memphis Depay before the transfer window closes.

Tottenham have been one of the busiest clubs in Europe in terms of incomings so far this summer, with six new players arriving through the door at Hotspur Way.

The Evening Standard’s Dan Kilpatrick revealed that two more players could be signed by Spurs this summer, with the club thought to be on the lookout for another centre-back and a creative midfielder.

Maddison has been mooted as a target for Tottenham, with journalist Dean Jones stating this week that the North Londoners have explored a move for the Leicester City star (GiveMeSport).

Reports from Spain have claimed that Spurs are also eyeing a move for Depay, with Sport even stating a few days ago that the Netherlands international had an offer on the table from Conte’s men.

When asked whether Tottenham could sign a player like Maddison or Depay, Romano told GiveMeSport: “I would keep it open honestly because Fabio Paratici, the director of Tottenham, always works in this kind of opportunity.”

The fact that Spurs have addressed the key issues in the squad early means that they can afford to wait patiently to see what opportunities open up towards the end of the transfer window.

We know based on the way Paratici operates that the club are likely to be exploring moves for several different attacking midfielders. It is anybody’s guess at this point who our top target for the position is.
