‘Keep your mouth shut’ – Spanish journalist launches scathing attack on Gareth Bale

Gareth Bale’s relationship with Real Madrid took another twist last month when Zinedine Zidane claimed that he refused to play in the Champions League tie against Manchester City (BBC).

Reports indicate that one of the La Liga champions’ main priorities this summer is to remove the winger off their wage bill (Marca).

Spurs have been backed to try to re-sign the 31-year-old this summer (El Espanyol) but it has been suggested that the Welshman’s sizeable salary would make any transfer difficult.

AS columnist Jesus Gallego has now launched a scathing attack on the Los Blancos star, who still has two years to run on his contract at Madrid.

Gallego demanded that the former Spurs player stop disrespecting his club, who continue to pay him one of the highest salaries in world football.

While he acknowledged that it might not be possible for Real Madrid to find a buyer for Bale under the current circumstances, he asked the Welshman to keep his mouth shut as long as he stays in the Spanish capital.

Gallego wrote in his latest AS column (as translated by Football.London): “Respect and decorum have been demanded of him in his behaviour and statements.

“It is bad that he gave up being an important player in Madrid, but if he continued to disrespect the club it would be outrageous.

“So keep your mouth shut and keep your form, no one can pay you what you take here.”

Madrid only have themselves to blame for their Bale predicament as they not only made a mistake by handing him a bumper contract but their decision to pull the plug on his move to China last summer, has proven extremely costly.

While Madrid are desperate to move him on this summer, Bale seems pretty content to see out his contract. Seeing as he is unlikely to take a wage cut, any move to Spurs is extremely unlikely this summer.
