Keeper leaves on loan

Young Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper David Button has joined a six-month loan deal with Crewe Alexandra.

Button, an England Under-20 international is highly thought of at White Hart Lane and insists that he’s made the loan move to get regular first-team football experience.

He told the official Crewe site: This is a massive opportunity for me and I have come here for the experience and improve. There is nothing better for a young goalkeeper to go out and play competitive matches. You learn a great deal when there are three points on the line.

“The deal has been in the pipeline for a while but Spurs wanted me to remain with them for the beginning of pre-season. I recently travelled with the Spurs first-team and played 45 minutes so that was a great experience.

“Once I came back from that things got rolling at Crewe and I was delighted to come up and sign.

He added: “Hopefully, I can settle down quickly and show everyone what I can do. There are two good goalkeepers already here at the club but it remains my aim to get into the team and to play as many games as I can.”
