Keeper reveals he ‘pretty much’ celebrates every Kane shot he saves in training

Jordan Pickford has named Harry Kane as the best striker he has faced in his career so far, labelling the Tottenham man as ‘ridiculous’.

Kane, who has not had a domestic campaign to write home about this season, managed to put that all behind him with England – recording a first-half hat-trick in the 5-0 demolition of Albania on Friday.

The performance was a confident one and nothing like what has been on show with Spurs, where he has recorded just a single Premier League goal in 10 appearances, which is a long way off the 23 he put up last season.

Despite Kane’s struggles for Spurs, Everton goalkeeper Pickford has not let that affect his judgement and singled out the England captain as the striker he has not enjoyed facing.

When asked to name the best striker he has come up against in his career, Pickford told the Premier League’s official YouTube channel: “I would say, Harry Kane.

“He’s a top striker – a finisher. There’s that much talent out there at the minute in terms of scoring goals, but Harry Kane is up there.

Pickford was then asked if he celebrated every time he saved one of Kane’s shots in training, to which he responded: “Pretty much because he’s ridiculous. You think he’s going to go one way and then he goes the other way.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Kane has not lost all of his ability all of a sudden, but it is clear that he isn’t at the level which we have previously seen for Spurs.

It is a hangover from everything that happened on and off the pitch in the summer, but Spurs need him to get firing again ahead of a busy run of fixtures.
