Kevin Danso has made an admission about Tottenham’s performance in the first leg of the Europa League round of 16 tie against AZ Alkmaar while making a promise to Spurs fans about what he and his teammates will do to rectify it.
It is a cliche to say that there are no easy games in this stage of the Europa League, but Tottenham found that out for themselves at the AFAS Stadium on Thursday.
As one would expect, the Alkmaar players were up for the tie and got in the faces of the Spurs players, who struggled to create too many chances of note.
In the end, the Dutch side would have been disappointed to take just a 1-0 lead into the second leg, with all to play for at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium next week.

Danso once again partnered with Archie Gray at centre-back even though Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven were part of the matchday squad.
The Austrian international once again delivered another solid performance, recovering well after a couple of nervy moments in the first half.
The 26-year-old took to social media to admit that Tottenham were not at their best on Thursday but promised the supporters that they would ‘work hard to fight back’ and turn things around.
Kevin Danso might drop back to the bench against Bournemouth
Now that Van de Ven and Romero are back fit, Sunday’s game against Bournemouth seems like the perfect opportunity to get some minutes in their legs ahead of the return leg against Alkmaar next week.
One would thus expect the Australian international to drop back to the bench. He might perhaps have to come on for the final 30 minutes as Postecoglou may not want to put 90 minutes of football into the legs of Romero and Van de Ven.
