Kieran Trippier accidentally thanks the wrong team after Spurs exit

Kieran Trippier completed his transfer to Atletico Madrid earlier today, ending a four-year spell with Tottenham Hotspur.

The right-back moved to the La Liga club for around £20million and penned a three-year contract (BBC).

Trippier took to Instagram earlier this evening to post a classy message about his experience at Tottenham where he played more than 100 matches for the North London side.

However, the 28-year-old tagged the NBA basketball team, the San Antonio Spurs (@spurs) in his post rather than the Tottenham Hotspur Instagram account (@spursofficial).

The move to Spain allows Trippier to get a fresh start after a difficult season at Tottenham where he suffered a lack of consistent good form along with niggling injuries which ultimately saw him lose his place in Gareth Southgate’s England squad.

Trippier admitted after the Champions League final defeat to Liverpool early last month that his future at Spurs was in doubt whilst also revealing that it was his wish to remain in England (BBC).

We’d like to thank Kieran for his service to the club and wish him all the best for the future.

He has since edited his post to correctly tag the correct account.
