Kieran Trippier reveals that Eric Dier is forcing him to do this after Spurs exit

While it has been a nightmare for Mauricio Pochettino at right-back so far this season, it has been a dream start to the new campaign for ex-Spur, Kieran Trippier.

It looks as if Tripps and his new club, Atletico Madrid, may have a chance to challenge for the La Liga title this season.

Tottenham took the decision to sell Trippier in the summer, but also decided against signing a replacement, instead sticking with the likes of Aurier, Walker-Peters, Foyth, and co.

So far, Walker-Peters has looked nervy and picked up an injury. Foyth has been injured an unable to play. Aurier has been left on the bench. And Davinson Sanchez had a torrid time at RB in the North London Derby.

I for one would love to see Trippier back in that first-team spot, but the England man at least still appears to be in contact with his old teammates.

Tripps revealed this week that he talked to Alderweireld and Llorente about Atletico, and that he still talks a lot with Eric Dier, who forces him to speak in Spanish to help him learn the new language.

However, Trippier admits that he is still having to use translate.

He said (AFP): “I still speak to a lot of the players at Spurs. Eric Dier is always telling me to speak Spanish because he speaks Spanish.

“He’s always sending me messages in Spanish and I have to quickly use translate.

“I spoke to Toby Alderweireld because he was here for one year and Fernando Llorente as well.

“They said nothing but good things about Atletico and Spain. They both thought the tempo and the style of the league would really suit me.”
