Kieran Trippier singles out Spurs team-mate for special praise

Hugo Lloris has been hailed as one of the best goalkeepers in the world by his Tottenham Hotspur team-mate Kieran Tripper.

The Spurs skipper was in inspired form during the Premier League clash against Southampton on Wednesday night, producing a string of stunning saves against the Saints under the lights at Wembley.

Lloris has had somewhat of a difficult start to the season when he pleaded guilty to being more than two times the legal drink-drive limit and was fined £50,000 after being pulled over by police for doing 15mph in a 30mph zone, and going through a red light in the early hours of 24 August.

On the field, he has also made some basic mistakes, notably in the Champions League game against Barcelona that gifted the Catalan giants the lead in the opening minutes.

There was no doubt that Lloris was back to his best in Tottenham’s last fixture and his performance did not go unnoticed by Trippier.

He told the club’s official website: “Hugo pulled off one magnificent save. It was an unbelievable save and he does that on a weekly basis. He’s one of the best goalkeepers in the world in my view.”

Spurs fans will be hoping that the Frenchman is once again in inspired form for tonight’s trip to Leicester City.
