Kieran Trippier – Tottenham’s weak link?

Unfortunately, it isn’t a positive In Focus segment this evening, as Spurs fell to their sixth Premier League loss of the season against Manchester United United.

Tottenham came into the game as favourites, sitting third in the table, with the Red Devils down in sixth.

However, despite playing at home, Spurs found themselves on the wrong end of a 1-0 scoreline.

After a Trippier mistake on in the middle of the pitch, cheaply handing the ball to the opposition. Paul Pogba chipped a pinpoint ball through to a full-pace Marcus Rashford who made no mistake with his finish.

The right-back had already offered up some pretty sloppy passes in the opening periods before this killer mistake that proved to decide the entire game.

While he threw some testing crosses into the box, his delivery did not outweigh the defensive liability.

Trippier will need to improve his defensive game in the coming weeks if he hopes to keep his first team place, as he was Tottenham’s weak link by far today. Serge Aurier and Kyle-Walker Peters should be knocking on Pochettino’s door in the morning.

Have something to tell us about this article?

  1. Pochettino must get rid of Trippier. Continues too make mistakes nearly every match.
Buy some additional players otherwise face the consequences.

  2. As the above comments. Tripper is a liability and Ben Davies is too slow and cumbersome. Rose should play every week if he feels up to it. Injury to Harry with no plan B now we’re fu–ed. Will have to try and dip into transfer mkt now surely. Bad day at the office, Fulham next week, hope we can do better.

  3. Yes Trippier made a mistake. However, I still question why when we are in front of goal we
still try to place the ball in goal? Put the laces through the ball. We should have won that game 3 or 4 – 1.
Just finish the shot off. We should have won other games for not trying to tap the balls in goal.
Come on Spurs, in front of goal, SHOOT FOR A RESULT and stop playing around with the ball.
Ask Lloris about shot stopping. Other teams look to half kill our keeper.
I’ve played the game as a forward and defender. Scored many goals from simply hard shots in
both positions and at international level. I’m still a Spurs fan. Just SHOOT
