‘Knew it’ – Erik Thorstvedt reveals what he heard about Tottenham’s pursuit of Antonio Nusa

Tottenham legend Erik Thorstvedt has revealed that he first heard of the North London club’s interest in Antonio Nusa a few weeks ago, and claimed that a switch to the Lilywhites would be an exciting move for the youngster.

There is plenty of excitement surrounding Nusa back in Norway, with the teenager being one of the most exciting attackers to watch in the Belgian top flight since establishing himself in Club Brugge’s starting eleven last season.

The 18-year-old, who is known for his pace and his dribbling ability, might soon be bound for the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with The Athletic now reporting that Ange Postecoglou’s side are in talks with the Belgian club over the player.

The report stated that Brugge value the winger at €30m (£25.7m) and are insisting that he remain at the club on loan until the end of the season before heading to Hotspur Way next summer.

Can Antonio Nusa be Tottenham’s next big talent?

Thorstvedt has admitted that he knew a move to Spurs was on the cards for his compatriot a number of weeks ago and insisted that Postecoglou will not be hesitant to hand opportunities to Nusa despite his relative lack of experience.

The former Spurs number one told Norwegian media outlet Nettavisen about the teenager’s proposed move to the Premier League side: “I heard some hints about this a few weeks ago. So I knew it could be on the cards. It’s really cool.

“Tottenham are a fantastic club to come to right now. They have such good tools now that they do a tremendously thorough job. It is also reassuring for the player that they know what they are buying.

Nusa is still very young, but Postecoglou is not afraid to pick people. He will get his opportunities and he is so good that he will take them.”

On the deal itself, Thorstvedt added: “It is a huge price for a Belgian club. That’s a lot of money for Tottenham, but it’s half of some of the most expensive players they’ve bought. They must be confident in the qualities he has.”

While Nusa’s numbers in the final third suggest that he is not yet the finished product, Postecoglou would fancy his chance of getting the best out of the winger.

If Spurs do manage to get this deal over the line, it could be another huge coup similar to those for Pape Matar Sarr and Destiny Udogie, who have both impressed this season.
