‘Knowing him’ – Conte’s former assistant makes claim about Spurs future

Antonio Conte’s former assistant, Paolo Vanoli, has said that he expects the Italian to remain focused on Tottenham despite the speculation linking him with a return to Juventus.

Reports from Italy have suggested over recent weeks that Conte could be open to returning to Juventus when his contract with Spurs runs out at the end of the season (Calciomercato).

However, Alasdair Gold said last month that Tottenham have the option to extend the 53-year-old’s contract any time they wish and added that those close to the former Inter boss believe he will be happy to discuss a new deal with the North Londoners (Football.London).

Conte himself was quizzed about his contract in a press conference last week and he insisted that he is in no rush to extend his deal and does not need a new contract in order to be committed to the club (Football.London).

Vanoli, who was part of Conte’s coaching staff with Italy, Chelsea and Inter Milan before becoming Spartak Moscow boss last year, has now given his take on the Tottenham head coach’s future.

He told Tuttomercatoweb about Conte: “He is a great coach and he is liked by all the great teams. Knowing him I think he is focused on doing well with Tottenham.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Conte will know that his managerial legacy will be sealed if he can guide Tottenham to silverware, given the club’s 14-year trophy drought. So, I believe he is fully focused on his project at the North London club and I do not see him jumping ship if the club continue to back his vision.
