Spurs defender to decide his future at end of season

Kyle Naughton

Kyle Naughton has admitted that he will speak to Tottenhakm before deciding on his future,

The 23-year-old joined Spurs in the summer of 2009 along with fellow full-back Kyle Walker – who has now broken into the first team this season.

By contrast, Naughton is yet to force his way onto Harry Redknapp’s plans. He has been out on a series of loan deals – the latest being a season-long loan at Premier League newcomers Norwich City.

Having sampled Premier League football with Norwich – Naughts is keen to play regularly and will review his future at the Lane at the end of the season. In all fairness, he will find it difficult to dislodge his close friend Walker or even Benoit Assou-Ekotto, who is also in superb form this term.

It looks to us as if Naughts will have to move on a permanent deal next season if he wants to achieve his dream.

“Kyle and I became close pals at the Sheffield United Academy and our families go back even further,” he told the Daily Mail.

“So it’s a bit ironic that he’s now effectively standing in my way at Tottenham. I don’t begrudge him his place one bit because he’s playing really well and I can have no complaints.

“But I may have to assess things at the end of the season because, first and foremost, I want to be playing Premier League football.

“I’ll talk to Tottenham and see what they think, but if it looks like they can’t give me at least a couple of games, then perhaps we’ll have to have a look around.

“I still have ambitions of following Kyle into the England squad after playing for the Under-21s and I need to be a regular in the Premier League to do that.”
