Kyle Walker names his former Spurs boss as ‘best man manager’ he has had – Not Pochettino

Kyle Walker has said that Harry Redknapp is the best man-manager he has worked under, admitting that he absolutely loved playing for the former Tottenham boss.

It was Redknapp who was in charge at White Hart Lane when Walker first made the move to the club from Sheffield United.

After the right-back excelled on loan at Aston Villa, he made a seamless transition to the Tottenham first-team in the 2011-12 season and hit the ground running.

The pacy full-back was playing in an exceptional Spurs side which boasted of the likes of Gareth Bale, Luka Modric, Ledley King, Rafael van der Vaart and Jermain Defoe, but he did not look out of place and was never shy of any confidence.

Harry Redknapp is a world-class man manager

The Manchester City star insisted that part of that came down to the influence of Redknapp and his coaching staff, admitting that they made him and his teammates feel like world-beaters.

When asked about working with Redknapp, the 33-year-old told Rio Ferdinand Presents Five: “I liked it, I liked it. He was similar to [Neil] Warnock, I played under Warnock at QPR.

“Harry’s the best I’d say man-manager that I’ve probably had, where he’d make you feel – once he loved you, that was it – he made you feel like you were the best player.

“And I think obviously (having alongside him) Joe Jordan and Kevin Bond was massive, especially for me as a youngster.”

That Tottenham team under Redknapp during the 2011-12 season was the most fun Spurs side that I have ever watched, with the style of play not being too dissimilar to the current one under Postecoglou, although that side was not as tactically sophisticated as this one.
