£30m signing ready to show his value at Spurs

According to an article by sky sports Erik Lamela says he is ready to go for the new season and he believes he has finally put his injury problems behind him.

The Argentinian forward was out for more than a year with a troublesome hip injury and also some personal problems however he returned to the fold last season, racking up 33 appearances and scoring four times.

He has travelled with the squad as we return to the USA for the second successive season to take part in the International Champions Cup and Lamela told Sky he is looking forward to playing a major part in the new campaign.

“It was difficult, for one year and two months I stopped playing football and it was really hard for me but now it is different, now I am ready, I am training normally with the team and this is very important for me” he explained

We signed Lamela from Serie A side Roma in 2013 for a then club-record £30m, and the flyer recently signed a new four-year contract which will keep him at Spurs until 2022.

“I am very happy with this,” he added. “It is a pleasure for me to play for this club. I have very good relations with my team-mates and all the people that work here.”

Lamela scored a hat-trick in a 6-0 win over Southend behind closed doors friendly he will now look to impress in the International Champions Cup.

We are playing three games beginning with Roma on Thursday before then facing Barcelona on Sunday followed by AC Milan next Wednesday.

We kick-off our Premier League campaign against Newcastle on August 11th.
