Despite all the noise around Harry Kane’s future at Tottenham, his new manager, Ange Postecoglou has been discussing how the striker fits into his system.
After Kane’s prolific form in the 2022/23 campaign, you’d be forgiven for thinking Spurs fans were feeling upbeat about what the talismanic forward would do in the upcoming season.
However, all the talk around Harry Kane this summer has been geared towards him leaving North London.
Now into the final year of his current contract with the Lilywhites, there is a very real chance that Kane could engineer a move away from the club this summer, or leave for nothing next year.
According to Constantin Eckner, Bayern Munich are preparing a new bid for the 29-year-old imminently.
Regardless of the speculation, Ange Postecoglou is busy figuring out his new squad, including the best way to get the most out of a world-class striker like Kane.
The Australian is known for preferring a pressing forward to lead his team, which is not necessarily something the England captain is used to doing.
Kane doesn’t need to change for Postecoglou
Speaking to the press ahead of the next game in Tottenham’s pre-season tour, Postecoglou was asked about how Kane will fit into his system, and suggested there is no issue with Kane’s style of play.
When asked if the striker will need to adapt his game, Postecoglou told Football.London: “Not really, I’ve had all types of strikers. I’ve worked with all kinds of strikers. The one I look for is someone with the ability and laser-focus to score goals.”
Spurs Web Opinion
To be honest, when you have a striker like Harry Kane, who scores goals so consistently, you do not ask him to change a thing.
There may be little facets of Kane’s game that need to adjust slightly, but by and large, you’d imagine Postecoglou will just let him do what he does best.
