Lautaro Martinez’s agent makes striker’s situation involving Spurs abundantly clear

Reports emerged earlier this afternoon that Tottenham Hotspur had agreed on a fee with Inter Milan for Lautaro Martinez (Football.London).

While many Spurs fans reacted with initial excitement over the news that Spurs could be set to bolster their attacking options, it has since emerged that a deal may not be as close as many may have assumed.

The 23-year-old’s agent Alejandro Camano has played down the possibility of the Argentine moving to North London by insisting that he is happy in Italy and wants to remain with Inter.

Camano told FC Inter 1908: “He’s never gonna have a fight with Inter to leave the club. Never. Lautaro’s an Inter player and he’s happy in Italy”

Martinez scored 17 goals in 38 Serie games last season to help fire Inter to the Scudetto title last season (transfermarkt).

The Times claimed earlier that Tottenham’s intention was to pair Martinez in an attacking partnership with Harry Kane with the club determined to keep the England international.

Alasdair Gold has admitted that the deal still has some way to go if it is to come to fruition, with Romelu Lukaku’s proposed return to Chelsea throwing a spanner in the works (Football.London).

Spurs had agreed to the fee with Inter earlier this week before Chelsea had tabled their offer for Lukaku and Inter are now said to be keen to keep Martinez.

No transfer involving Tottenham appears to be straightforward and a possible move for Martinez is certainly following the same trend.

It would be hard to believe that Inter would be prepared to sell both Lukaku and Martinez in the same transfer window, with the player’s agent appearing to be quite clear over the striker’s future.
