Michael Owen shares his prediction ahead of Newcastle vs Spurs

Michael Owen is confident that Tottenham Hotspur will have too much for Newcastle United this afternoon if Harry Kane continues his recent run of form.

The first game back from the international break often seems to throw up surprises such as the one witnessed at Stamford Bridge yesterday, with West Bromwich Albion putting five past Chelsea.

Jose Mourinho will be hoping that his side also are not on the end of a similar upset after they have been handed a golden opportunity to leapfrog Chelsea in the table.

The negativity surrounding Tottenham following the losses to Arsenal and Dinamo Zagreb was lifted a little by their win over Aston Villa ahead of the international break, which was the North Londoners’ fourth win in their last five Premier League.

Newcastle, meanwhile, come into the game off the back of an extremely poor run of form and hover dangerously close to the drop zone.

Mourinho has confirmed that Son is expected to play but Lawrenson believes that the Magpies would have no chance even if the South Korean did not feature.

Owen told BetVictor: “It’s six games without a win for Newcastle, with a thumping 3-0 defeat to Brighton last time out. The Geordies are in dire need of a result; however, they will have to be at their best against a Spurs side, who despite their slip-ups, are still chasing a top four finish.

Harry Kane was amongst the goals during the international break, and if he continues in a similar vein, I could see the England captain playing a big part in an away win.

“Prediction: Newcastle United 1-2 Tottenham Hotspur.”
