Lawro predicts Spurs to beat West Brom

BBC football pundit Mark Lawrenson has predicted that Tottenham Hotspur will beat West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.

Last time out, Lawro incorrectly predicted that Spurs would draw at Newcastle when it actually ended as a 2-1 victory for Alan Pardew’s side.

He told BBC Sport Online: “Tottenham are another team still a work in progress, because by this time next week they could have another two or three players.

“Andre Villas-Boas is very much building a side but I find it strange that he is prepared to let Michael Dawson leave. He has been injured and maybe Spurs think he won’t be the same player again but he has been a very reliable and consistent centre-back for them over the past few seasons and he will not be easy to replace.

“Spurs were a bit unlucky to lose a very tight game against Newcastle last weekend but I think they will get off the mark this time.

“I watched West Brom against Liverpool last weekend and it was a strange game. Liverpool had lots of chances in the first half and I thought, if they scored, they would win comfortably.

“Credit to Baggies boss Steve Clarke, his side came up with a really good second-half performance and it was they who won comfortably in the end. They will get a very different examination at White Hart Lane, however.

“Prediction: 2-0 .”
