BBC football pundit Mark Lawrenson has predicted that Tottenham Hotspur will beat West Bromwich Albion.
He told BBC Sport Online: “Tottenham need a win to put the pressure on Manchester City in the race for fourth place and I can’t see them having too many problems against West Brom. Spurs created bundles of chances in their draw with Arsenal on Wednesday and I cannot see them failing to do the same when the Baggies visit White Hart Lane.
I still think City will ultimately pip Spurs to fourth, though. I would rather be in City’s position at this stage of the season. If their game with Tottenham on 10 May proves to be crucial then they are at home.
I know City were at home in the same fixture at the end of last season, when they needed to win to get into the Champions League, but they have a different team now and, this time, they might just need to avoid defeat – which is something their manager Roberto Mancini is good at.
Prediction: 3-1.”
