Lawro predicts Spurs to draw with Chelsea

BBC football pundit Mark Lawrenson has predicted that Tottenham Hotspur will draw with Chelsea on Sunday.

He told BBC Sport Online: “This is a nailed on draw for me. Chelsea have got all sorts of problems at the moment but the trouble with Tottenham is, after a Champions League game, you are never sure what you are going to get from them.

“With all the flak that Blues boss Carlo Ancelotti is getting, I think it is time for him to circle the wagons and go back to being an Italian by making his side difficult to beat. He will start the game with a point and he should aim to finish with a point.

“That’s how I think it will end up, with Spurs finding it hard to break Chelsea down.

“Prediction: 1-1.”

  1. I hate to say this but Lawro could be right every time we play a team in crisis we get over powered. Chelsea where the heaviest squad in the premiership and Arsenal are the lightest squads 11st and 13st this showed me one relies on pace and power the other on pass run pass run. At the moment Chelsea has lost its pace and power. When you look at the Chelsea players they look ill and gaunt Drogba Malouda Cole Boswinga Kalou are all products of a team using to much energy and are suffering burnout. This is what worries me we are playing a club in crisis and i expect Chelsea to be high on energy and stop Bale and Lennon and the rest of our players from having a second on the ball. The only players who can make space with a 50 yard pass is missing Big Tom and we can only wish for a draw or a late win.

  2. If the boys are up for it! And I believe they will be I think we will win- but Spurs have been decidedly flat after a CL campaign & if Chelski get at our boys & unsettle us- I think we will struggle to raise our game. But it is a derby so there should be no excuses?? This hard match to call- but I am tipping us to win 2-1.

  3. I think if we had a strong team, we could win this…but we don't. I presume Modric is still injured? Huddlestone, Kaboul, van der Vaart, Kranjar, Jenas, King – all inujred. Dawson and Defoe have just come back from injury and I think Gomes, Palacious aren't their normal selves at the moment. Our only option is to play down the wing and have Crouchy up front with Pav/Defoe behind him. I think we'll be lucky if we get a draw tbh with our injury curse and tiredness from Tuesdays game. Either way I'm behind you – COYS!!
